Jason Mohr is currently 30 years old and through hard work and determination has been appointed Head Acquisition Analyst of Atlas Capital, a multi-billion-dollar company. Mohr made it clear that from a young age he always wanted to go into real estate. While no one in Mohr’s immediate family was in the respected industry, he created a detailed map of what jobs he had to get, to then go into the industry he loved. During college at Cornell University Jason got an internship at Hulihan Loki, an incredible investment bank. That internship then led him to working for Eastdil Secured and then finally as one of three acquisition analysts in the Los Angeles office of Atlas Capital. When asked if there was anything he would change about this process, he laughed and shrugged and said, “honestly no.” Jason knew the exact path he wanted to go on since Cornell and never strayed away.
His advice to all students is to create a road map of where you see yourself in 10 years and be patient enough to see it through. He thinks that seniors coming out of college should start of as analysts then go into a development company. Being an analyst will allow recent graduates to understand the inputs and numbers, as well as teach discipline. Jason says that when he is hiring a new analyst at Atlas Capital he always tests applicants on technical skills and personality fit. He said that he can tell if he wants to hire someone in the first 30 seconds of the interview. When asking how students and graduates can stand out he said, “always be confident in what you are able to do but be honest on what your weaknesses are.”
